EAT: Caravelle (c/ Pinto Fortuny, 31) – With arguably the best eggs in town, head here if you’re craving a brunch that packs a punch with a side of quality barista-made coffee. Its market-sourced, seasonal menu is packed full of offerings such as Moroccan-style baked eggs, corn fritters with avocado and pesto or creamy French Toast, served up in a modern, airy cantina-style setting.

SHOP: Nuovum (c/ Pinto Fortuny 30) – Wander across the road after brunch and check out this design concept store – a hub for upcoming designers to show off unique and original wares. No standard-issue tourist tat here.

DO: Institut d’Estudis Catalans (Career del Carme) – Housing the present day Institute for Catalan Studies, this historic building and hidden courtyard is a cool, calm oasis offering a respite from the busy city just beyond its stone archways.
